2010: The Fight Has Just Begun

“Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigues of supporting it.”

Thomas Paine- The American Crisis, No. 4, September 11, 1777

Conservatives are really excited. Here is a snippet from Ed Morrisy via Hot Air:

Let’s start with the special election in New York. Many of us hoped that Douglas Hoffman could pull off a remarkable outsider bid yesterday to beat Bill Owens, and he came within a couple of points of making it. That puts a Democrat in the seat for the first time since 1993 (not 117 years as has been previously reported). It’s never a best-case for the GOP when a Democrat wins, but by keeping Dede Scozzafava out of the seat, the GOP has the chance to win this seat back in a year with a better candidate — perhaps Hoffman, perhaps another Republican who shares core principles of limited government and fiscal conservatism. Dislodging an incumbent Republican would have been considerably more difficult, and a unified GOP should win this district — especially given the signals sent everywhere else to Democrats.

Please don’t misunderstand, while I’m excited about the wins (I watched in anticipation for a good portion of the night) this is only a small step.

We  still have a long fight ahead of us.

Last nights win doesn’t change the fact that the Democrats, especially the leadership, are still a bunch of 60’s radicals (except Obama, he just plays one on T.V.) Don’t make the mistake and think that Obama, Reid or Pelosi care if they destroy a few lowly Congressman or Senators careers to achive their life long ambitions. I think they are even willing to cede the House of Reps if it means getting their Holy Grail of socialized medicine. The radicals know if they get socialized medicine, they will have fundamentally changed America.

The key to stopping the radical Democrat agenda will be to keep the heat on our local Congressman and Senator. We the people need to remind (in a respectful, yet firm way) that their job hinges on the way they vote on Socialized medicine, Cap and Tax and the rest of the radical Obama agenda. They need to worry more about losing their job in a spectacular, embarrassing defeat more than the pressure from Pelosi, Reid and Obama.

We can’t let up. The fight has just begun.

Interesting quote from Thomas Paine. Even more interesting the date he published it. I’ll have to keep that in mind for my 9th anniversary post.

@Cynical Synapse: I really like that quote. And it is an interesting date as well.

You started your blog after 9-11. … I’ll never forget that day.
