Extreme Tree Hugging: The Urban Folding Bicycle That Converts To A Shopping Cart

Global warming (or climate change if its cool outside) is so 2008. Via Treehugger.com:

Riding your bike to the farmer’s market or store rather than driving is a great way to trim down your carbon footprint. But the excuses can still pour forward from reluctant riders — “I don’t want my bike to get stolen while I’m inside,” or “I don’t have baskets on my bike to carry things home,” or “What if I buy too much and can’t fit it on my bike?” A new concept bike that transforms into a shopping cart solves all these concerns and leaves little room for other excuses for driving rather then pedaling to the store.

Yep, this will work in mid January. In Michigan.

While it seems a little contradictory that you could cut your carbon footprint by cycling only to raise it by shopping, if you’re shopping at the farmer’s market for local food, or making other carbon-savvy purchases, then it is a seriously green design. We’re hoping this concept design finds its way into the market place.

In a related story, all the talk about C02 (carbon) is really unnecessary. Not only is there no scientific proof that the entire world is warming (and man is causing it), there isn’t even a “consensus.” Via Ace:

“Claims such as ‘2,500 of the world’s leading scientists have reached a consensus that human activities are having a significant influence on the climate’ are disingenuous,” the paper states unambiguously, adding that they rendered “the IPCC vulnerable to outside criticism.”

I would save your money (and dignity) and skip the goofy bike.

More proof that 1) the Senate confirmation hearings are a waste of time as Senators already made up their minds prior to them, and 2) it’s ALL about politics and ideology and has nothing to do with what’s good for the country.
