Great Day At Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

As I’ve said before, Michigan has it share of problems, but it has tremendous upsides as well.

It was a beautiful day and my pictures don’t do the scenery justice. If you have never been to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, I highly recommend visiting.

Dude. Give me and my make-shift board a push off the top of that slope and I may make it halfway down before I fall, laughing, to the sandy ground, ready to do it again.
Nice place you have there. Take these pictures down immediately, before some Obamanot finds out what you’re hiding. ;-)

You can’t tell in the pictures but as you get closer to the water the dune goes nearly vertical and is a long way down.

    I am in the phonebook.

I live 25 miles from the dunes.

BTW MNRobot.. its too late.. We used to have a GREAT local spot where you could literally jump from shore into 30 ‘ of crystal clear water. The Park service PAVED the path and installed a parking lot so it wasn’r a secret any longer.. then they put up fences so no one could get to the jump off spots any longer.. Wrecked it.

I’m so jealous, the area around the dunes is so nice.

Next time I head up that way, I’ll let you know. This trip was a spur of the moment thing.
