Monday Night Quick Hits: Pancake Dinosaurs Edition

Whew! What a day. Too Much going on so I’m going to post some of the more interesting things I have in my book marks this evening.

Kudlow: Election Politics or QE2?

Over the last few days, the Intrade pay-to-play investment exchange shows the contract for Democratic control of the Senate dropping below 50 percent for the first time. In fact, as of this writing, the contract is at 46 percent. For perspective, the contract was 95 percent in early 2010. Last summer, it was 75 percent.

A glimpse of Obama’s tactics starting January, 2011:

Its funny listening to Obama is blame Republicans in Congress for not ‘helping’ with his failed socialist agenda. The truth is, the R’s were unable to stop anything. Obama, Pelosi and Reid got everything they asked for and tanked the economy in the process.

As if anyone needs to ask: Is environmentalism progressive?

Tea Partiers, you’re making a difference. Know the game you’re playing. Never let up!

Politicians are not your friends, they are your servants. Politicians are not your leaders. You are the leader. Party affiliation is meaningless. You owe them nothing. It is they who owe you.

Why Michigan Conservatives Need To Get Out And Vote

Michigan is truly a wonderful state and has many things going for it. Beautiful parks, geography, lakes, forests and four actual seasons.

Pumpkins @ Long Family Orchard, Farm & Cider Mill

We also have a strong tradition of innovation, manufacturing, engineering and design.

We make things.

However, our states strong traditions have been under continuous assault from the progressive left for over 60 years. Progressivism has infested business, education and our state government.

We conservatives need to begin the roll back of the progressivism in our state and create a more conservative environment. An environment that is pro-economic growth, more individual freedom and an environment that is rooted in personal responsibility and not an all intrusive nanny state government.

The progressive nanny state ideology has even taken root in the Michigan GOP as evidenced by the selection of Rick Snyder as the Republican candidate for Governor.  Snyder is campaigning on many of the same failed policies that our current Governor, Democrat Jennifer Granholm (the worst Governor in America) has been championing for the last eight years.

This is very disappointing to conservatives across the state.

Representative Mark Schauer (D-MI 7) Wants To Shift Focus To Economy This November

Mark Schauer has supported the most anti-business, anti-jobs, anti-growth agenda, ever.

  • Schauer voted in favor of the flop stimulus.
  • Shauer voted in favor of the economy killing regulatory nightmare known as “Cap and trade.
  • Schauer voted in favor of the health care take over that will, by the way, will lighten all of our wallets in January with significantly higher premiums and co-pays.

If Democrat Mark Schauer was half as concerned with the economy during his term in Congress as he is today, maybe he shouldn’t have voted in favor of the entire Pelosi economy killing agenda:

And this is what Mark Schauer had to say about his vote for the flop stimulus bill in 2009:

Tea Party: Beware “The Web of Deceit”

John Carey @ The Current has a great point: Start Thinking Local

The sooner we realize that the change we seek lives in our neighborhood and understand our pains, the sooner we can begin reining in the federal government. National elections are indeed important but local elections are more important. If you truly want change and are tired of swapping out one set of disappointments for another then I encourage you to start thinking local in a big kind of way. Change starts in each of our neighborhoods. Find out who is representing you in your district at the state level. He or she probably lives only a few blocks away so take the time to get to know them and let them know how you feel.

Federal Judge: “Congress is empowered to legislate how people pay for health-care services”

You knew this was coming:

U.S. District Judge George C. Steeh issued a 20-page order — believed to be the first federal court decision nationwide — that addressed claims Congress exceeded its authority by requiring most people to obtain insurance coverage or pay a penalty by 2014.

And this:

Steeh, who was appointed by President Clinton in 1998, concluded Congress is empowered to legislate how people pay for health-care services.

He also said Congress had a rational basis for concluding that decisions about how to fund health-care services have an impact on interstate commerce and are within Congress’s powers under the commerce clause of the U.S. Constitution.

Steeh said it is expected the Thomas More Law Center will appeal to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Congress writes bad laws and liberal judges nod their heads in agreement.
