This is one sweet car. Via egmCarTech:
Refresher: Power for the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 comes from a LSA 6.2L supercharged V8 making 550-hp at 6,100 rpm and 550 lb-ft at 3,800 rpm. The engine is matched to a Tremec TR-6060 6-speed manual transmission with a new shorter-throw shifter that improves gear changes. It also features a dual-mode exhaust system which provides a very throaty and powerful sound. Sales begin in early 2012.

I’m sure the ZL1 will sell better than the Nissan Leaf or Chevy Volt.

What a beauty! I always thought the new camaro was the most attractive of the new age retro-styled muscle cars.
The problem with all these damn electric cars is the abolition of one of the main reasons a sports car is so much more than just a conveyance for humans, the exhaust note. Nothing sounds like a throaty V-8 rumbling, or a Ferrari V-12 going wide open. Hell, even a cagey V-6 can get on top of it every now and then. But an electric motor and a battery, I don’t care how much you “tune” that combo, it still sounds like a washing machine to me.
Another big problem with EV’s is the fact they take a long time to charge and you can’t get that far once they are charged.
If the left gets their way and a large number of EV’s are plugged in to homes across America, imagine what everyone’s electric bill is going to look like- even if you don’t own an EV- with all that meridional demand for electricity.
