Video: Democrat Rep. Jim Moran tells constituent to “sit down or leave” during townhall meeting

After watching the following video, I find it odd how Rep. Jim Moran (Democrat- Virginia) went from reasonably calm to purple faced with rage in the span of a couple of seconds.  It seems as if Rep. Moran was looking for a fight, an opportunity to garner positive press similar to this blurb posted at Fox Nation:

The man began his tirade by asking, “Why are you here tonight and not in Congress trying to figure out how to stop this from happening?” The man continued to verbally attack Moran before the Congressman finally yelled back, ordering the man to sit down or leave.

Here is the video:

    The Vet did make his point and very clearly I might add. Moran has no intention of wanting to keep the government running, his job is to stoke the flames of hatred towards the right as seen by his own behavior.

    I have said before, this is not the 90′s, Obama is not Clinton, the financial disaster we are in is unprecedented and singularly caused by one party- the democrats.

    People are awake and know exactly what is going on like never before. The dems have , thankfully, totally miscalculated this one and will pay dearly for it.

      I agree, the left has miscalculated where the American people are on this issue.

    You know, he was actually doing pretty good. I thought his answer to why he wasn’t physically in Congress was reasonable. Of course he skirted the funding issue, but it was strange how he weirded out so quickly.

      Moran spun out really fast and put his contempt for we the people on display for everyone to see.

    @ 5ester,

    Drop the Koolaid for petes sake!

    Any politician that claims to work for his or her constituency from either party would be deep in the trench’s doing their fricking job! This does not include “being on the floor” but working the phones or meetings in offices, as that is what those things are for!

    Moran’s excuse was beyond lame and in the face of a Veteran on top of it, but yours is inexcusable in defense of it.

    Another example of what the elites think of us.

  • 5etester April 8, 2011 at 10:50 pm

    @Christopher

    Are you for real? Kool-aid drinking for an idiot leftist? Whatever!

    Can you explain the GOP Representatives showing up on Fox News instead of being “deep” in the trenches? Do you not realize that Moran is nobody and this is being debated at the top?

    You may not like it, but he was right in that the GOP sets all the rules concerning debate. And since when is meeting with your constituents and allowing a guy like that veteran to speak not doing their job?

    Like I pointed out, up until the point when he went jackass on the guy, he was completely accurate in what he said. I don’t like him or support him like I can’t stand any friggin’ liberal in Washington, but I don’t appreciate guys like you trying to call me out for defending it when you couldn’t be more wrong.

    @ 5..

    Of course I know who runs the House moonbat, I VOTED FOR THEM!

    Explain them? Can you not read? I said and I quote myself;

    “Any politician that claims to work for his or her constituency from either party”

    What part of that do you not understand?

    Steve’s post was on Moran and I not only commented on that but the entirety of the situation yet you limit yourself to partisan bullshit.

    Forget the KoolAid, get off the damn liquor let alone the fence!

  • 5etester April 8, 2011 at 11:21 pm

    At least you are fessing up to voting for them so you’re more than welcome to take the blame for what you consider leadership running the House. You helped make the bed so you can lie in it.

    I’d suggest you help elect some real conservatives instead of the jackasses you seem so proud of.

  • Christopher April 8, 2011 at 11:41 pm

    @5,,,

    Fessing up? I am very proud of types like Paul Ryan..what do you have ?

    I’d suggest you no longer vote as you have no clue as to what you talk about!

    • Christopher April 8, 2011 at 11:44 pm

      p.s., What the hell do you know about conservatism? You speak liberal or if not, again on the fence? Give us all a break and hang it up, your day is done.

  • 5etester April 9, 2011 at 12:06 am

    No longer vote? That’s a view a statist would love. Silence dissent. And you call yourself conservative? Sad.

    Sorry Steve, I won’t muddy up your blog with any more of this garbage.

    • Christopher April 9, 2011 at 2:06 am

      Yes, What the founders intended was intelligence when voting and you have shown none.

  • theCL April 9, 2011 at 10:23 am

    Well … I happen to agree that Moran took the question respectfully, started answering respectfully, but then threw out that snide “caustic” remark and let his temper get the best of him. Very weird. Strange.

    When the constituent objected to the remark, he certainly wasn’t “verbally attack[ing] Moran” either.

    As far as being “deep in the trench’s doing [his] fricking job,” I’d say meeting with constituents like he was IS doing his job. There’s nothing for him to do in Washington or back at the office.

    If I were a member of Congress, I’d either support Rand Paul’s proposal or have one of my own with even larger cuts. I’d vote ‘no’ on anything else. I’d probably hold a conference in my district explaining the need for immediate and drastic cuts and furthermore why a government shutdown isn’t Very Scary. So, beyond being in Congress to cast my actual vote, I don’t see the point of being in Washington.

    Real conservatism? There’s nothing in the rich philosophical conservative lexicon that says one has to support Republicans and/or hate Democrats. The original American conservative movement, the Old Right, was apologetically anti-state.

    Anti-state is a principled position. Anti-Democrat is partisan. If conservatives would get back to their roots, we’d have a chance of fixing things. If not, we’re screwed. Because the problem was not “caused by one party- the democrats.” We’re living in a bipartisan Big Government nightmare.
