The guys at Power Line have a post that I couldn’t agree with more: WANT MORE JOBS? THE LOW-HANGING FRUIT IS ENERGY. One key point stressed here at MCT is that energy is the key to our economy and as long as Obama and his fellow eco-warriors keep pushing the green energy nonsense, our economy will continue to suffer.
The Power Line guys have posted excerpts from a study that quantifies the number of jobs that would be created if the federal government would allow domestic production of real energy (coal, oil etc.):
The energy consulting firm Wood Mackenzie released a report on Wednesday that attempted to quantify the additional jobs and revenue that would result from a relaxation of the federal government’s current anti-energy policies. You can read the report in its entirety, but here is the bottom line:
Wood Mackenzie’s analysis found that U.S. policies which encourage the development of new and existing resources could, by 2030, increase domestic oil and natural gas production by over 10 million boed, support an additional 1.4 million jobs, and raise over $800 billion of cumulative additional government revenue.
Wood Mackenzie compared a “current path case” against a “development policy case” to derive these figures.
This is much like a previous post here at MCT:
So while we neglect oil discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico, the Bakken formation, California and drilling for oil in ANWAR, the rest of the oil producing world will happily supply oil at a premium price and keep growing their economy.
The Power Line Guys close their post with this thought:
This is all such a no-brainer that Obama’s failure to reform his administration’s energy policy can only be explained by the fact that he is a slave to ideology, and has no understanding of economics.
Be sure to read the rest.
