Sunday Morning Links: The Vintage Pontiac Firebird & Trans Am Brochures

I have a soft spot for the old Firebird / Tran-Am. It was the second new car I ever purchased. The bright red car was a blast to drive even though it was a ticket magnet (and had nothing to do with the driver).

Kinda sad that GM killed off Pontiac, and with it the Trans-Am.

    Thanks for the link.

When I was still a young officer in the USAF, I had a friend who got himself a brand new bright red convertible Firebird Tran-Am. I not much of a car fan, but I have to admit it looked good. Someone promptly stole it, of course.

Firebirds are definitely good looking cars. I would’ve been heartbroken if my Firebird was stolen.

Thanks for the link Steve. I’ve been a bit under the weather as of late so I’ve been neglecting my rounds and my posting. Will get back on track soon. I was always a fan of the Firebird. Settled on a 1971 Camaro for my high school car. It was a sweet ride…

71 Camaro… Very cool ride. My HS ride was a 66 Mustang (with the 289 V8).

      Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks for the link Steve. The article was actually written by my wife at Phoebe’s Detention Room.

Thanks man. Still have my old Pontiac mouldering away until I can restore it. (Not a firebird – LeMans sport.) I’ve always liked the old Firebirds.

    • steve January 14, 2013 at 6:27 pm

I would love to restore an old car, but the lack of time, space and money (all minor obstacles) keep getting in my way.

Thank you for the link, Steve. Terrific collection of links this week.
Just curious: What is coming out of the bird’s mouth in the “New Breed of Wow” graphic? A flame? A tongue? Projectile vomiting over Obama’s latest despotic proclamation?

    • steve January 15, 2013 at 6:04 am

Sometimes that graphic is referred to as the ‘screaming chicken’, so I will go with “C” – projectile vomiting over Obama’s latest despotic proclamation.
