Democrat Astroturf: POLITICO Is Hyping ‘Grass Root’ Backlash For No Votes On Socialized Medicine

The POLITICO is doing their best to amplify the story. Via Pat Dollard:

Darcy Burner, executive director of the American Progressive Caucus Policy Foundation, said that the anger over the vote was a natural outgrowth of the value liberals have placed on the health care push.

“I think, for the most part, the Democrats who voted ‘no’ on the health bill and who are getting heat deserve it,” said Burner.

One of those Democrats is Rep. Jim Matheson, who represents a solidly Republican district in Utah. Despite the difficult nature of his district, local Democrats responded with indignation upon hearing of his vote.

Democratic state Sen. Scott McCoy immediately floated the idea on his Facebook page of launching a primary campaign against the five-term incumbent.

On Tuesday, McCoy took a step back and told POLITICO he wasn’t interested in a run. But he made little secret of what he thought of Matheson’s vote, saying, “I think there [is] a sense of frustration and disappointment out there.”

“There are a number of people in Jim’s district who are disappointed,” he added.

It funny that a majority of Americans do not want socialized medicine, but for the hard left, this is their Holy Grail.

As a Democrat in a largely Republican district, looks to me like Jim Matheson was representing his constituents. Most of the rest of us wish we could get that from our representatives! I say “bravo!”

I wrote something last week about MoveOn, the astroturf army of George Soros, threatening to campaign against any Democrat that voted against a public option. Of course, it’s OK when the left does that. When the right goes after RINOS, its the end of the world, or something like that.

@Matt: Very good point. If conservatives pressure a Republican to stick to conservative principles, it’s right wing extremism. But, like you said, if a liberal pressures a Democrat to be more liberal… It’s the natural order of things.

@Cynical Synapse: C-S: it would be a nice change to have a Senator (i.e. Levin or Stabenow) actually listen to the people they represent rather than charge head first into the liberal Democrat agenda and not care for a second about the consequences of their actions.
