Granholm: Budget Cuts For Areas Of State Responsiblity
It’s too predicable. Granholm is closing eight of the states prisons because there is no budget. Via CNN Money:
“Michigan government can no longer afford to be all things to all people,” Granholm said in a May 5 statement. “We expect to have to make more cuts like these in the future, which are the very type of wrenching cuts we have worked so hard to avoid in the past.”
Of course, Grhanolm will keep cutting things that the state is responsible for, like prisons, police & fire departments. Areas where the states citizens expect our tax monies to go. All of this is a ploy to soften up the public for new tax hikes that are sure to be looming on the horizon soon.
The two things Granholm needs to do is cut the non essential projects like the DEQ and subsides for ‘Green Energy’ & movie production and start pursuing a pro growth economic agenda and grow our economy and increase economic activity.

Reducing welfare by 31% would cut spending by about $1.3 billion all by itself! And permanently as well.
That’s a great point. There is no reason for the governor to play these games.
