Joseph Cao: The Lone Republican Who voted For Socialized Medicine
Joesph Cao, Congressman from Louisiana, made a big production about the fact he read the entire PelosiCare bill:
I have one question. If he read the entire bill, why would he vote for this mess? Via the CSM:
Democrats pushed hard for Cao’s vote on healthcare, which gives at least a bit of bipartisan cover to the massive reform bill. Hours before the vote, Mr. Obama pledged to work with Cao on healthcare issues in the district.
“Today, I obtained a commitment from President Obama that he and I will work together to address the critical health care issues of Louisiana including the FMAP crisis and community disaster loan forgiveness, as well as issues related to Charity and Methodist Hospitals. And, I call on my constituents to support me as I work with him on these issues,” he said in a message on his website. (The FMAP crisis refers to a sharp drop in federal matching funds for Medicaid, determined by Federal Medical Assistance Percentages.)
He was bought off.
There is no way this guy stands a chance at re-election. He is in a heavily Democrat district and he has an ‘R’ next to his name. This is strike one. There will be a strong anti-incumbent sentiment in 2010. Strike 2. Finally, he just lost every Republican / Conservative in his district. Strike 3… This guy is toast.

There’s nothing “bi-partisan” about this bill and now Cao is lame duck.
@Dr. Dave: Agreed. He is toast November 2nd, 2010…
I sent my Democratic US Rep an email asking him point-blank if he read the entire bill. I’m starting a pool on whether he answers the question or not.
