Steve, I didn’t mean for him to try to boost morale. I meant for him to experience it from the Soldier’s perspective.

As for the video, I’ve seen it and don’t put much stock in it unless someone can tell me the dates and events. The Dubya visit is in Iraq in an rather informal setting. The Obama visit is a formal event; military personnel are at attention as he enters. Don’t misunderstand–I’m not saying the result would be the same if both men visited under identical circumstances. I’m just saying the video is slanted.

@Cynical Synapse:Normally I would say it would be great for the CIC to visit the troops in the field. But with the troops moral sinking, I don’t think a lecture from Obama is what’s needed to improve things.

I’m sure you’re right, Steve. I hope he realizes his choices boil down to supporting his field commander or short-term political gain for long-term damage to national security. Sheesh!

Maybe he should go spend some time with troops on the ground so he can see for himself what needs to be done.

@Cynical Synapse: I don't think Obama is making a military decision. He is making a political calculation.
