Worst Governor In America Has Temper Tantrum And Cut School Funding Because She Can’t Get A Tax Increase
The only two times Jennifer Granholm has cut spending is for State Police and funding for schools. Via the Detroit News (emphasis added):
Rebutting charges that her veto of $52 million for higher-spending school districts was a political move, Gov. Jennifer Granholm said today the Republican-controlled Senate “left me no choice” but to slash the money.
“My veto reflected what I was supposed to do, which is to sign a balanced budget,” Granholm said at a news conference this afternoon.
The governor added she may have to cut more money from schools once the state treasurer and House and Senate fiscal experts reach a consensus on the recession-caused shortfall in the school aid fund. Those cuts could come in the form of pro-rata reductions as soon as next month.
This is nothing more than a Democrat temper tantrum. Governor Granholm wants a tax increase, and she is not getting it. Therefore, our Governor lashes out trying to sting the states citizens by cutting funding to our schools in an effort to create a public outcry for more taxes to fund our schools.
Granholm won’t cut the millions of dollars of tax credits given to out of state company’s to film movies in Michigan. This is the same project that has created the equivalent of 254 full time jobs. She won’t repeal the tax credits given to windmill, solar panel or battery company’s that, on average, create only 29% of the jobs promised. But, she will cut funding for police and funding for schools.

A Democratic snit fit, indeed. Why is it that no politician – of either stripe – can ever think of anything to cut out of a million-billion-trillion dollar budget other than the military, cops or education? Maybe if they actually read the budget bills they pass they’d get a better handle on what’s actually in there.
And as for the “greening” of Michigan… don’t get me started.

It is amazing!!!! Michigan is the worst state out there . So the answer is to raise taxies and scare off what’s little business we have here. Cut school and cops now there is a smart answer! How about cut the advertising of how great MI is in Michigan we know that this is one of the only reasons we still stay here. How about cutting there crazy spending. She is killing us and small business as well!! But keep blaming Engler from years ago! How about raising the Sbt tax oh wait to late already did that last year. Enough taxing us… I know Jennifer it’s always someone elses fault. Please your killing the small business sector
@Dan: Dan, it is crazy. All Granholm wants to do is raise taxes. She will shirk her responsibly for providing police, school funding, fire departments and I read today that state and local road commissions are scaling back snow plowing this winter ( I guess that’s o.k. with all the global warming happening). But, like you said, they are not cutting taxes, helping small business or cutting PR for Michigan in Michigan (that’s a great point BTW).
