Ford is rolling into 2025 with a range of upgrades across its SUV lineup, featuring both design and tech enhancements for some of its most iconic models. The new model year sees a complete refresh for the Ford Expedition, significant updates for the Ford Explorer, and continued advancements in the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV. Here’s what’s coming for each Ford SUV in 2025.
Ford’s largest SUV, the Expedition, has received a full redesign for 2025, incorporating fresh features, including a new Tremor off-road package. Aimed at the adventurous family, the Tremor edition offers 10.6 inches of ground clearance, 33-inch all-terrain tires, and skid plates from the F-150 Raptor. This version also comes equipped with a Rock Crawl mode and Trail Turn Assist, allowing for easier navigation of tight trails.
In addition to off-road enhancements, the 2025 Expedition sees interior upgrades. A new Split Gate liftgate maximizes cargo accessibility, and the 24-inch digital driver display provides cutting-edge connectivity. The center console storage bin now slides back to provide second-row access, while the third row features a folding middle seat and headrests with device holders for an improved passenger experience.
The 2025 Ford Explorer midcycle refresh brings added tech and a redesigned interior. With the new Active trim replacing the XLT, this three-row SUV now includes Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving technology and an upgraded 10-speed automatic transmission for a smoother drive. Exterior changes include refreshed all-LED headlights and a variety of new grille and wheel options.
Inside, the Explorer matches the Bronco Sport’s tech, with a standard 13.2-inch infotainment display and a 12.3-inch digital driver display, as well as Ford’s new Digital Experience, which supports Bluetooth gamepads for entertainment options on the go. For 2025, the ST and Active trims come in a fresh Vapor Blue Metallic color, adding flair to Ford’s best-selling SUV.
The Mustang Mach-E maintains its place as a competitive electric SUV with some key updates for 2025. This year’s model benefits from a standard heat pump to improve efficiency in cold weather and the latest BlueCruise 1.5, Ford’s semi-autonomous driving system that can now handle lane changes autonomously on highways. Adding to the convenience, a new Sport Appearance package makes the Mach-E Premium look more like the high-performance GT trim.
Ford has also introduced new exterior color choices—Desert Sand, Velocity Blue Metallic, and Molten Magenta Metallic Tinted Clearcoat—as well as three new wheel designs. Even better, the 2025 Mach-E starts at $3,500 less than last year, making it even more accessible to those looking to enter the EV market.
The Bronco Sport receives a midcycle refresh, bringing tech and off-road updates that expand its appeal. New front and rear styling, along with a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, are highlights of the upgraded cabin. Ford has also integrated its Co-Pilot360 Assist+ suite as standard, adding features like emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.
The Bronco Sport also introduces the Sasquatch off-road package, featuring 29-inch all-terrain tires and Trail One-Pedal Drive to make off-roading more intuitive. Meanwhile, the full-sized Bronco adds a retro Free Wheeling package, available on the Big Bend trim, that harkens back to the 1970s with classic red, orange, and yellow side stripes and unique interior accents.
The Bronco Raptor’s changes are limited to new color options like Marsh Gray, Desert Sand, and Ruby Red, but its off-road features remain a favorite for enthusiasts.
